Due to the high volume of drivers in Las Vegas, Nevada, there is a state-wide ban on texting and calling while driving due to the amount of accidents caused by either texting or calling in the car. This state-wide law is also enforced in 39 other states in the U.S. Both texting and calling while driving still occur at an extreme volume and there have been over 1,000 accidents in Nevada as of 2010. The Nevada Highway patrol issue traffic alerts via social media to decrease the risk of accidents in the state. Almost all accidents in Las Vegas, Nevada have been due to driver inattention. Fines are issued to people who fail to obey the law, the first fine is $50, the second is $100, and third offense is $250 and eventually other consequences can and will be issued, these fines are doubled in work zones in order to keep workers concentrated during driving and work hours.
